We’re pleased to announce that Toronto Reading and Writing Tutor is now using JUMP Math as our core research-based program for elementary math tutoring.

    From the JUMP Math website:

Every child can be good at math

That’s the belief – confirmed by science – that inspires the JUMP Math philosophy and approach.

Founded in 2002 by Dr. John Mighton, JUMP Math is a charitable organization empowering educators and students with an understanding and appreciation of math in Canada, the United States and other countries worldwide. Equity is at our core. Our resources are structured to support every teacher to engage every student in every math class.

The Ontario Human Rights Commission Right to Read Inquiry report found that Ontario schools are not using evidence-based approaches to teach students to read and to identify students with reading challenges, including dyslexia. We encourage all of our families to familiarize yourselves with the report. Toronto Reading and Writing Tutor is here to support you in navigating this system whether your child has dyslexia or you suspect she/he/they have dyslexia or another learning exceptionality.

We want families to be aware of the Ontario Catch-Up payments that can go toward tutoring or other school-related needs. There is a March deadline for applying. Note that if your child has been identified with a special education exceptionality, you are eligible for the maximum payment.
